This program was developed as part of Nancy Reagans’s Just Say No campaign in the early 1980’s.  The program itself is supported and endorsed by the community’s D.A.R.E.program and local school districts.  We are happy to report that Bowl-A-Roll Lanes is the only authorized bowling center in the area that is eligible to offer this wonderful family oriented summer time activity.

Public, private, and parochial schools throughout the Greater Rochester area have teamed up with Bowl-A-Roll Lanes to offer area children a safe and fun environment during the summer vacation when they are more likely to be at risk. The "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling" program provides children ONE FREE GAME OF BOWLING (including rental shoes) EVERY DAY during the summer (May through August). Students need only to present their student ID card.

National Bowling Day

If you’re a bowling fan, you know there’s no need for a special holiday to take on or watch your favorite sport. But as luck would have it, bowling does have it’s designated day, even its own week!
Every year, bowling center proprietors, fans and players join forces to celebrate this beloved game. This year’s National Bowling day falls on August 11, and you’re invited to help spread the message.

Beat the World Record

The designated day is intended to celebrate bowling every year, and involves a long celebrated record: The most number of games bowled in one day. The 2010 record was 923,948 games in a single day. That’s nearly double the record from just two years ago in 2008, which saw 548,721 games in one day.

Get Involved

Bowlers of all age and skill levels are invited to take part in National Bowling Week. Log onto the Bowling Proprietors of America’s (BPAA) website to claim your coupon and bowl for free. Have fun and do your part to set a new record for 2012. Thousands of bowling centers across the country are expected to take part in this event.

Just What Is League Bowling?

League bowling is a group of people getting together to bowl on a competitive basis. League bowlers consist of people of all age groups, all walks of life, and all levels of athletic skills.

Leagues are organized with various numbers of teams consisting of all men, all women, or a combination of men and women. These leagues meet on a regularly scheduled basis, normally once a week, to compete against each other as teams. Some compete for prize money, some for trophies, but all of them compete for the fun of bowling.

League bowling then becomes a more equal form of competition because of its handicap system. A less talented, or inexperienced bowler, can compete with a bowler of more experience and skill and still have a chance to win.

League bowling is an inexpensive night out, giving you a chance to make new friends, compete on an equal basis, and be assured that you will have lanes to bowl on each week at a time that is suitable to your own personal schedule.

To put it simply, in relationship to any other competitive athletic event, league bowling is the best buy in town and you don’t have to worry about getting rained out.
