A Family Affair

The past several weeks have been very exciting ones for the Bernardo family.  On Tuesday, October 8th Geno Bernardo Jr. recorded his first 300 game while rolling in the Tuesday Henrietta Businessmen's League at Bowl-A-Roll Lanes.

Not to be outdone, Gene Bernardo Sr. cast his vote on Tuesday, November 5th for family bowlers' of the year while tossing his 14th career 300 game while also bowling in the Tuesday Henrietta Businessmen's League.  The Bernardo family joins a select group of Father-Son bowlers who have both recorded perfect games in the history of the Rochester Bowling Association.

Congratulation to the Bernardo family for a job well done!

Enjoy the action.

Jump For Joy For Paul Le Frois

Congratulations to Paul Le Frois Jr. on bowling a 299-840 series in the Henrietta Businessmen's Bowling League this past Sunday afternoon.  To date this the highest score in the league as well as at Bowl-A-Roll Lanes this bowling season.  Paul's score eclipses Dustin Tyler's  279 x 3 = 837 series rolled in the Knox 3 Man League this past Wednesday.

Bowl-A-Roll Lanes Leagues

Bowl-A-Roll Lanes
"Your Family Fun Center"
Where Everyone Meets To Have FUN

League bowling is one of the most popular recreational sports in the United States. If you're not a league bowler, chances are you know one, even if you don't think you do. League bowling has given many hours of joy (and frustration) to people since the inception of the sport, and continues to do so.
There are leagues available for all types of bowlers. If you're one of the best bowlers in the area, there's a league for you. If you don't care about winning at all, there's a league for you. If you and your significant other want an activity you can do together, there are couples leagues for you. On top of all the leagues bowling alleys administer, you can usually set up your own league at your own center. Bowl the way you want with the people you want.

Kids Bowling Leagues

Leagues are now forming for teams and individuals for Youth Bowlers!

Competing in one of our Junior Bowling League at Bowl-A-Roll Lanes
in Rochester, New York combines the fun of bowling with teammates and friends with the thrill and excitement of competitive bowling against league opponents. Leagues are divided into 3 ten week sessions with 4 bowlers per team.  All leagues are Co-Ed and can be made up of any combination of Boys, Girls or Mixed.

Bowling is also America’s #1 participation activity with over 68 million American’s bowling each year. Bowling is a favorite with children/kids ages 5-18 with over 40% of that age group bowling at least once per year.

Our youth bowling coaches will teach your child the basics of bowling, a lifetime sport that provides over 3 million dollars per year in scholarship money to graduating seniors.  The best part of many bowling scholarships is that they are based mostly on participation and not solely on talent. BEST OF ALL—NO ONE RIDES THE BENCH IN BOWLING!

Plus…Bowling is now the fastest growing high school sport in America.

Risk FREE

We're parents too and we know sometimes when you sign your child up for a new sport or activity they may not enjoy it.  Don't worry about it – come the first week and see how your child likes it.  If your child chooses not to come back you haven't lost anything we'll happily refund your money.

Welcome back area students!

You're about to have some real fun with great   drink specials, food specials, music, and more! Plan on joining us every Sunday and Monday evening for College Night at Bowl-A-Roll Lanes. Watch all your favorite NFL teams on the NFL ticket. Centrally located to all the area colleges.

For more information please contact us at 585-427-7250 or email us at bowlarol@rochester.rr.com. Join our email club at www.bowl-a-roll.com and receive FREE games of bowling.

"Bowling is generally one of the more fun activities that are available in Rochester."  We think it's really important for students to unwind every now and then — between their tedious studying and all — and bowling is a really great way to do just that.
College bowling night takes the pressures of school off both the body and mind and includes the added bonus of not cleaning out one's wallet. Students organizations on campus have found advantage in college bowling night, too, as it provides a convenient way to get a large group together without having to ask each member to pay a lot of money.

Four Reasons Why Bowling is Such a Great Sport

Fall is just around the corner. However, what happens next fall when the weather turns and many people begin thinking about cuddling up by a roaring fire instead of slogging through rain, ice and snow. Will they get their exercise and enjoyment then?
Sports-loving individuals who want something to do that isn’t quite as exhausting as mountain climbing, jogging or bicycling and doesn’t require picture-perfect weather to enjoy may want to consider the more relaxing and fun sport of bowling.
Bowling is a Fun and Physical Sport
Contrary to what some people may believe, bowling is a very physical sport. In fact, according to many experts, bowling burns around 200 calories per hour. But what’s even more important is that bowlers can have a fun time even if their not that good at it. Sure, league and pro bowlers have mastered many of the techniques that make this sport competitive. But even people who only bowl occasionally will find that bowling is an enjoyable way to spend some free time.
Bowling Can Be Done in Any Weather and  at Any Hour
Too wet outside to play basketball or baseball? Don’t want to golf in 30 degree weather? Why not bowl instead? Yes, there is a lot to be said about getting outside in the fresh air and enjoying a bit of exercise. However, sometimes it’s just not practical. Bowling eliminates the problem with inclement weather. And many bowling alleys throughout the country are open 24-hours (and not just in Las Vegas), so those who are looking for some fun at midnight don’t have to worry that the greens aren’t open at that hour.
Bowling Equipment is Provided Onsite
Unlike a sport such as skiing which requires a major financial investment in clothing and equipment (whether skiers rent or buy), bowling only requires bowlers to show up in comfortable clothing. Of course league and pro bowlers invest in their own bowling equipment, but the occasional bowler doesn’t have to. There are plenty of shoes to rent and a variety of bowling balls to choose from that allows anyone to be able to bowl when they want.
Bowlers Can Bowl Alone or in Groups
What to play tennis with someone and can’t find a partner? No one available for a little catch? What’s great about bowling is that anyone can do it alone or in groups. Consider an afternoon or evening of bowling with friends whether in league or just for fun. Or if no one is around for the moment, there’s no reason for sports enthusiasts to put their life on hold. Bowling welcomes everyone – singles, doubles and teams. The fact is that bowling can be fun and physical whether someone chooses to do it alone or with friends, at midnight or noon and without regard to weather conditions. And that’s why it’s such a great sport.

Fall Leagues

A bowling league is a group event where several teams bowl against each other over the course of a season. Most bowling leagues consist of four team players that meet up once a week or once every other week, usually at the same day and time. Teams of three or five players are also common. Leagues can be set up as male-only, female-only, or mixed. Four-person teams tend to be used in mixed leagues, while three- and five-player teams are more common in male-only and female-only leagues.

You don't have to be a great bowler to join our league, we welcome all skill levels. Whether you highest score is 100 or 300 league bowling is a fun and exciting way to mix a social atmosphere and competition at the same time. Bowlers range from averages of 100 to 200 in our league and there is always room for you.

Get your bowl on and reserve your spot on the league. Bowl-A-Roll Lanes Family Fun Bowling Leagues are a fun and great way to make new friends. Get ready for an upbeat, social environment.  Spend time with friends (or family) and a little friendly competition. Pick your teammates, and reserve your place on a league. It's just that simple!

THE FUN IS BACK

Your Fall League is Forming Now?

The many benefits of league bowling

"For those of you out there who have never bowled in an organized bowling league, you may have wondered what it would be like to do so. You may have questions about what a league really is and how you would benefit from the experience if you joined one. The simple answer is that league bowling is a group of people getting together to bowl on a competitive basis. League bowlers consist of people of all age groups, all walks of life, and all levels of athletic skills.

Leagues are organized with various numbers of teams consisting of all men, all women, or a combination. These leagues meet on a regularly scheduled basis, normally once a week, and bowlers compete against each other as teams. Some compete for prize money, some for trophies, but all of them compete for the fun of bowling.

More often than not, league bowling is an equal form of competition because of its handicap system. A less talented or inexperienced bowler can compete with a bowler of more experience and skill and still have a chance to win. League bowling is an inexpensive night out, giving you a chance to make new friends, compete on an equal basis and be assured that you will have lanes to bowl on each week at a time that is suitable to your own personal schedule.

To put it simply, in relationship to any other competitive athletic event, league bowling is the best buy in town and you don't have to worry about getting rained out.

Bowling's popularity

According the United States Bowling Congress, bowling is the No. 1 participatory sport in America with over 66 million people bowling at least once in leagues or open bowling every year. It is one of the most popular sports in the world. Bowling's popularity is evident in Prince William County with every bowling center hosting league play every night of the week and some hosting leagues in the daytime.

One of the reasons for bowling's popularity is its adaptability. Children and adults of nearly every ability level can participate, and it can be enjoyed as leisure, recreational and social activity or as a com-petitive opportunity.

Almost anyone can bowl. That is why no other sport can match the diversity of participants in this sport. Some of the benefits of bowling include its easy accessibility to facilities, equipment and instruction. You can practice anytime or bowl in a league for competition.

Bowling is a lifetime fitness sport which contributes to balance, coordination and motor skills. The game is able to fill the needs of so many people because above all, it is simple to play. The rules are not complex and the basics of how to roll the ball are quickly learned. How well you do and how high you can score is another matter".

Bowling for Senior Citizens--It's Right Up Their Alley

Don't be a "Couch Potato"!

Been out of the sport of bowling for awhile? Considering participation with friends you haven't seen in a long time, or a group once or twice a week? That's Great!!! You're never too old to bowl and "winning never gets old." Age is not a detriment to being able to bowl, particularly if you can adjust your game to what's happening or what has happened to your body. Like everything that exists in life, the older we get the more difficult some things are to achieve. Bowling can be taken up and enjoyed even at 65 or 70 years of age, and remember, our oldest active league bowler passed away at 106 years young.

Bowling the sport of everyone. Yes, Bowling. The sport of individual achievement and competitiveness, used by some for recreation, socializing, exercise and a method of stress relief.

D.A.R.E.. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)

Bowl-A-Roll Lanes is proud to announce the return of the “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling” program for summer 2013!  Last year over 50,000 students bowled over 75,000 free games during the summer program.  "Say No To Drugs, Say Yes To Bowling" is a healthy, wholesome program for students of all ages that will give them a free activity all summer long at our family-friendly bowling center.

Here’s how it works...
It’s very simple. We will give each student a “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling” card. The card entitles your child to ONE FREE GAME OF BOWLING (including rental shoes) EVERY DAY during the summer (May 1st through August 31st). That’s it. There is nothing to buy and very few restrictions. Cards are good seven days a week whenever lanes are available until 9:00 p.m. Students need only to present their card when they come to the bowling center and they may bowl ONE GAME FREE.  Any additional games will be charged at the special “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling” rate ($1.00).

The first time the student uses their card, we will register them for our free Birthday Club and “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling” Club. “Club” members will be eligible for prize drawings and will be invited to participate in many exciting group events and activities.

Say No to Drugs...
In addition to the free bowling feature of the program, we will also periodically host special Law Enforcement safety awareness presentations.   Club members will be informed of any scheduled events of this nature.

Bowling — a lifetime sport...
Bowling is the perfect sport. Everyone can play it and no one sits the bench. Size and strength are not a factor. We have bumper bowling for children as young as two years and facilities for disabled bowlers. Bowling is a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. We will also be offering free bowling instruction to our kids.

Bowling — a wonderful group activity...
Bowling is a great group activity. We encourage students and youth leaders to participate in the “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling” program as a group function. We will be happy to reserve lanes for your group or organization’s party or fundraiser.

Drug Awareness

            "Say No To Drugs"

The phrase "Just Say No" first emerged when Nancy Reagan was visiting Longfellow Elementary School in Oakland, California in 1982 and was asked by a schoolgirl what to do if she was offered drugs. The first lady responded by saying, "Just say no". Just Say No club organizations within schools and school-run anti-drug programs soon became common, in which young people make pacts not to experiment with drugs.  Over 5000 Just Say No clubs were founded in schools and youth organizations in the United States and abroad. Many clubs and organizations remain in operation around the country, where they aim to educate children and teenagers about the effects of drugs.[

"Just Say No" was an advertising campaign, part of the U.S. "War on Drugs", prevalent during the 1980s and early 1990s, to discourage children from engaging in illegal recreational drug use by offering various ways of saying no. Eventually, this also expanded the realm of "Just Say No" to violence and premarital sex. The slogan was created and championed by First Lady Nancy Reagan during her husband's presidency.

In an ongoing effort to provide local area students with wholesome recreational activities, Rochester’s Bowl-A-Roll Lanes has announced a new program called, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling. The program in its 10th year had over 50,000 students and their families from the Greater Rochester area participate last summer.  It’s a healthy, wholesome program for students of all ages that will give them a FREE activity all summer long at our family-friendly bowling center. “Kid safety is the goal of this event. We offer kids a safe place to enjoy a sport during their most vulnerable years. The program is supported and endorsed by the community’s D.A.R.E. officials, parents and local school districts.  “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling will provide thousands of dollars’ worth of FREE bowling and shoe rentals to local students during the summer months.  The bowling center will provide a special identification card to every student in the Greater Rochester area that will entitle the student to one free game of bowling EVERY day from May 1st through August 31st. Bowling shoes are also included.  We ask you to please consider supporting as well as participating in this wonderful program.  For more information about the “Say No to Drugs – Say Yes to Bowling” program contact Bill Fortino at Bowl-A-Roll, 585-755-0747.

Best wishes,

"Say No To Drugs"

Hi, my name is Jenny, a fifth-grade student.  The DARE program has definitely changed the way I decide to do things. Knowing how to make decisions can be the only way out of a risky situation sometimes.

DARE is important to me because I would have never thought that kids so small would be dealing with problems so big. Learning about drugs, violence and anything else we are faced with earlier in life would be better than learning it later on.  Before I forget, I would like to thank my awesome DARE teacher, for teaching my classmates and me all about how to be drug free, not to fall for peer pressure and how to make the best decisions possible.
DARE has truly changed my life. It is one of those programs that only comes along once in a lifetime.  From now on I promise to be drug free, violence free, and be respectful of all laws.  Always remember, you make decisions for yourself; don't let other people make them for you.

In an ongoing effort to provide local area students with wholesome recreational activities, Rochester’s Bowl-A-Roll Lanes has announced a new program called, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling.”  The program in its 10th year had over 50,000 students and their families from the Greater Rochester area participate last summer.  It’s a healthy, wholesome program for students of all ages that will give them a FREE activity all summer long at our family-friendly bowling center. “Kid safety is the goal of this event.
